Metabolism, è un movimento dell'architettura moderna nato in Giappone intorno al 1960, quando il paese era impegnato nella ricostruzione post-bellica. La rapida crescita economica del dopoguerra aveva comportato accesi dibattiti e sperimentazioni nel campo dell'architettura per pianificare una città ideale.
La mostra in programma al Mori Art Museum è la prima che fornisce un quadro completo del movimento con oltre 500 documenti e riflessioni valide anche per le problematiche contemporanee.
Sono circa 80 i progetti esposti per la prima volta al pubblico giapponese, raccontati attraverso plastici, disegni, schizzi, fotografie e filmati di archivio. In particolare sono presentate le architetture progettate e realizzate dagli architetti "metabolisti" a partire da quello che è considerato il precursore del movimento, l'architetto Kenzo Tange con l'Hiroshima Peace Center.
