Mostra “Vanishing Ice” al Whatcom Museum, Bellingham, Washington.

"Paesaggi alpini e polari nell'arte, 1775-2012” è il sottotitolo della mostra che espone le frontiere ghiacciate del nostro pianeta e il ricco patrimonio culturale ad esse legato. Una prospettiva diversa su “Why ice matters”.



Al Whatcom Museum di Bellingham, Washington, nel famoso “Lightcatcher”, edificio certificato LEED Silver progettato da Olson Kundig Architects, sono in mostra 400 anni di testimonianze artistiche dedicate all'affascinante mondo del ghiaccio.





Qui il tema della preservazione di tali importanti paesaggi per la vita sulla terra viene affrontato dal punto di vista artistico, al fine di creare un legame personale tra lo spettatore e questi habitat. La bellezza del ghiaccio viene documentata, a seconda delle epoche e dell'estro artistico, da dipinti e fotografie.





Un viaggio che parte dalle Alpi per toccare l'Artico e l'Antartide, ma che guarda anche al cambiamento climatico nello stato di Washington.





La mostra è itinerante e andrà in seguito nel Texas e in Canada. E' accompagnata da un sito dedicato, da un catalogo e un ricco programma di eventi collaterali di approfondimento sul cambio climatico.
